Hi Frankie, those are great images where are they taken from? I have never seen these other than in books, you have me watching for them now as well, I would love to get these on image. Keep posting your results.

Just had a fall of snow within last half hour, and it's freezing keen already!

The first three images were taken this afternoon of some nice Sun Dogs and Sun Piller, the last image is a Sun Piller from Nov 22nd taken from the top of Maghaberry Hill. I sure got some funny looks while imaging! Tinypic has spoiled them a bit but the colors are true and untouched! The black dots on the last are flocks of birds, not dust on the lens!
The Eastern Dog

Western Dog, interesting cloud layer wonder whats going on there Martin?

Sun Piller

Sun Piller from November 22nd.

Nice shots Paul!
24  General Category / Weather & Atmospherics / Re: Tonight's nice Moon Halo on: November 24, 2010, 03:48:51 pm
Thanks very much Richard, we are certainly getting the weather for them at the minute. Have just been treated to lovely sundogs and piller presently. Here's another taken later in the night when the fog cleared (couldn't sleep) notice Orion at the bottom.
25  General Category / Weather & Atmospherics / Tonight's nice Moon Halo on: November 24, 2010, 02:35:52 am
Got a few images of a very nice Moon Halo visible all evening here, though at times the fog was so dense it became blended with it. This is just one of the images I got with a Fisheye add-on lens attached to the 18-55mm kit lens.

Beautiful images Richard, and like Paul said I love the one with snow on the beech, that has to be very unusual for your parts. I can see that last enlarged and on the lounge wall Shocked

Thanks all!
28  General Category / Astronomy & Space / Re: Moon & M45 on: November 22, 2010, 10:33:12 pm
Thanks all for the kind comments, it was one of those images where everything went wright for a change, the clouds worked in my favor as well. It's a pity though I didn't get an image of me taking it, nothing on but pullover/trousers and slippers, and nearly burned my tea as well. The things we do for an image.

Was only trying to be helpful Brian no harm done, sorry I can't see the feature you see on either image. Perhaps someone else with more knowledge of the moon might be able to advise.

30  General Category / Astronomy & Space / Lunar Corona. on: November 21, 2010, 10:52:25 pm
Got a nice Lunar Corona in the early hours of the 21st, colour was quite pronounced. Nicest one I've seen in a while.
