Sort of encapsulates the  autumn/winter, nice capture there, John, I wouldn't have thought of that .

Luv the squirrel.  I think you need at least 1/600 sec. for those starlings but as you say it needs the ISO upping, which can introduce noise. I had a go back in April at different speeds. I mentioned I'd got one one of the shots of a starling somewhere, I'll check this out now and a couple of Red Kites in flight  too.

Cheers, Martin. I haven't see the pheasant since so I suppose it got back to where it it should have been - hopefully ,anyway.

If anyone is thinking of getting the Canon 100-400mm lens please let me know I can let you know what it's like. It certainly doesn't like low light, hence the high ISO and noise in both photos.

This is a wagtail that came to our pond. I was using a 100-400mm lens with a 1.4 X converter ,handheld  and I should have had the speed a lot higher.  After the shot I got my tripod but it didn't return. My verdict ? It could have, should have been better . I also had light problems and had to push the ISO up . The second photo  is a female pheasant that got lost, I think. It's on a 15 metre wide grass verge opposite my home and I live on the edge of a housing estate., semi-urban.

Excellent shots, I love wildlife. The one where the squirrel   has it's paw over its eye is funny, 'don't take a photo of me ' Lol. I have a starling photo at a feeder with it's wings 'caught  beating' .I'll see if I can dig it out. It was from April when we had snow.

The railroad track caught my attention because you thought about it and 'got down' -..luv it. I took a photo in the middle of a highwayin N.Dakota whilst on  stormchase and 'got down'  in the middle of the road to take it  and was 'advised' not to as storm chasers  can come along at 100mph !! Lol.

Great shots.  I assume that's the Missouri ,the bridge is spanning. Did you know that Warren Buffet , the great investor , comes from Omaha and is called 'The Sage from  Omaha" ?  Investors hang on his every word.

The original image  has the  whole moon showing, I see there's a slice off it here . Could I have avoided that when posting ? I selected the 15 " screen size  800 x 600. There's message Board 640 x 480 and for websites 320 x 245.

Thanks for  your comments . I'm hoping to improve a lot on that photo. I've just had some new instructions re. posting the actual  photo .  I'd  selected the wrong box in Tinypic. If you don't mind I'll just try it once more and see if I can get the actual image. Thanks for your patience.

HI..This is  my first post. I hope when I click on 'post'  with the url from Tinypic  (also a first) the  image will appear.  Apologies if it fails. It's a photo of the moon taken on Wednesday from my garden.  I used an 82mm Pentax spotting scope with a 14mm Hyperion eyepiece and a 14mm extention tube. The camera was the Canon 350D with a 28mm f2.8 lens.and remote cable.  It was taken at ISO 400,f5.6 and a rather too slow,I fear ,1/30 sec .I intend getting proper equipment for this and shoot prime.
