Fantastic section here John, it must have taken considerable time to process these to post here so thanks for taking the time and effort to share these with us. It must be hard to get the optimum exposure time for this type of photography and I think you have done very well with these.

John Iím guessing you are trying to post multiple images, I have found that if you post just two or three images the spam checker wont pop up may be wrong but when I tried Sunday to post five images the checker poped up, I then tried just a few images and it worked.

Thanks all for the comments.

Great photos Anton. # 3 is superb, must have used the ND Filter on that one I'm guessing. My old eyes tell me that 3 and 4 are BW or Sepia. Great touch, it really sets the mood!
Yep used a 10 stop on the fountain and converted 3 & 4 to B&W with a sepia tint.

Wonderfuls shots Anton, nice edit and crop with no 1. Is that a wide angle for 1 & 2?  No 3 is a beauty as well, great work
I did Use a 10-24mm Lens great for this type of imaging.

Thanks all, the next stage is to build a small shed with a roll off roof so will go with a wooden floor with a centre cut out for the pier avoiding any contact with the pier base. Agree regarding the vermin so will need to consider how to get a perfect seal around the pier but yet still avoiding any vibration.

Looking forward to capturing and observing some of our great sights in the night sky, not wishing the light evenings away but it wonít be long before the sky is suitable for observing our wonderful stars, planets and nebulae at a reasonable time and not silly Oíclock. In preparation I have desiged and constructed and pier for the Sky Watcher 150P for a more  rigid mount. All the fixings used are Grade 2 stainless steel so wont rust.

To the sky and beyond !!

44  General Category / Photography / Swifts in Flight on: July 11, 2011, 01:22:08 pm
Iíve been watching these Swifts since they were chicks huddled in their cosy nest. Only a few weeks ago one of the chicks had fallen from the nest, fortunately he fell on to a soft bedding of horse shavings. My daughter found the chick and gently placed him back in the nest.  They posed for the camera before taking flight around the yard. It wonít be long before they start their long journey to Africa.
