Lovely shot Richard - I'm a big fan of catching the fadeout - looks more natural than the trail stopping when the shutter closes. I see you've made the SW front page too - well done!

Good grief, there's a result! That's using Gradient XTerminator is it? I must investigate further!

Truprint lol - got a few of their wallets full of snaps in a box somewhere Smiley

After a brief respite this morning - some sunshine even - the wind and rain is now very much back on.

Barometer is sitting around 950 - never seen it so low!

That's an excellent set John - especially the valley shots! Which river is that?

Thanks Richard. Actually I've forgotten which scope I used, I only know it was a scope on the basis that the EXIF shows f1 and no focal length which means there was no electrical connection with the lens. I hadn't started collecting T-mount lenses at that time so it must have been either 80mm ED refractor or (more likely) 6" f5 reflector.

That's some session Stevie - patience really is a virtue! I would certainly be interested in a trip to Bragan at some stage - sounds like an excellent site!

Welcome Stevie, good to have you here. Yes, even in our relatively sparsely populated Province, light pollution is a big problem for us. I used to go to Killylane regularly but as you say, the LP there has got worse over the years. I'd certainly be interested in exploring your site at Bragan at some stage.

I do a good line is astrophotography basics if you decide to give it a go Smiley

Cheers,

Paul.
38  General Category / Astronomy & Space / Orion's Sword reprocessed on: November 07, 2010, 03:06:11 pm
As I've learnt more about processing in the nearly two years since I took this, I have had a go at reprocessing the original frames. There's still some residual LP but I'm please with the overall result.

Enjoy!

Compared to the new comet, Hartley is still a celestial searchlight! Here's an uncropped stack of 10 x 10secs 50mm f2.5 ISO 1600 taken around 0530 this morning....

Here it is - star to the left which looks brighter to me is mag 8.8 so it's pretty dim.

Taken around 0533 UT this morning - a stack of 12 x 10 secs 50mm f2.5 ISO 1600 stacked and cropped.

Lovely shots Anthony - that takes me back a bit as I trained as a BBC Engineer at Wood Norton in the 1980s so Evesham and Fladbury are both familiar to me - from a long time ago though!

In the Fladbury Mill shot the countryside is looking just the right shade of orange to be getting some pretty good landscapes by daylight I reckon.

Now that's very good Mark! Never been to Iceland - must get there sometime.

Caught this at 0400 this morning - went outside the back door and caught just three frames before the clouds pulled over quicly and the rain started! Usual stack of 50mm RAWs cropped. Bright star is of course Capella.

You know Martin I hadn't even considered the ZL Smiley

Clearing here now, though very windy.
