Hi guys.

i got the antares deluxe 2x barlow lens with T-thread. last night was clear so i had a few hours of testing it with dslr and telescope ( prime focusing ). just could not get anything on live screen on camera, it was total blackness i even took of the lens of barlow and tried it that way but no good. i didnt get frustrated, actually i was enjoying the learning of it and trying to solve it. anyways...i ended up attaching the dslr with ring to scope without the barlow, i got stars on my live screen but the focus was right tight to the drawtube barrel. i just couldnt focus anymore. i got a few shots of saturn, only because i needed a target to practise on. hardly worth speaking about  Embarrassed

focusing is the problem..just not enough give in my drawtube/barrel. any ideas  Huh

thanks guys  Smiley

thanks for link markt.

i got my T mount adapter ring the other day, went out 2 nights ago to test it. try to focus sirrus but noooooooo good it was just a blob. with that link mark...it shows an adapter with nose piece so to speak..is this what i need to focus?  the T mount adapter fits perfectly to my dslr and telescope no problems there.  Smiley

wow....great shots brian.

i had a few times projected the sun through scope on to my bedroom wall and what a sight. and omg...the smoke coming from my eyepiece..the plastic had melted lol. it was a cheap refractor i just used on the sun. but i can understand why you love it. great stuff brian and keep up your good work. thanks for sharing your love for the sun  Smiley

hi guys.

another query for you all. i have a skywatcher 6 inch dobsonian...i need to connect my olympus E-420 to it. so far ive orderd a T mount adapter for the camera, now...is there something else i need for this setup? im only doing moon stuff as i dont have tracking. i have searched the net for answers, but in the way they explain is just more confusing. here is a link to that adapter  http://www.bristolcameras.co.uk/p-olympus-four-thirds-t-mount-adapter.htm

i was looking at a celestron universal adapter...but still none the wiser. from what ive seen on net, i do need another piece?

thanks guys  Smiley

hi mark.

i have remote control and tripod. paul has great detail in his photos...for my orion shot i used ISO400 i did use higher like 800/1600 but omg the noise was terrible. i do have DSS but never used it. once i have a starting point the rest is trial and error. ive seen alot of milkyway photos just using tripod and dslr...and its amazing how they do it. cant wait for the next clear night to try. i will just concentrate on that subject because its something i wanted to do for along time. i do have a telescope but no tracking so that one is a no go Smiley

Thanks guys. Richard, lens is the trusty 50mm f1.7, 10x 8sec exposures at f2.5 ISO1600 stacked in DSS in all cases.

great stuff paul. i want to try something like this with the milkyway poking its nose through my pictures. any advise will be welcomed. brilliant  Smiley

14  General Category / General Forum / Re: photo links on: February 27, 2010, 10:43:41 pm
hi martin.

i use my old freind elements 5 for all my editing. also have photomatix pro 3. never realy needed to resize photos until now, so its a bit difficult for me to get to grips with it. mostly in elements...once i finished editing i would save for web..if a photo is..lets say 2.4mb it would resize it down to 1mb or a bit less sometimes. the one of my back garden was 1.49mb...when i saved it for web it went down to 1mb. im willing to learn martin  Smiley
