Just been looking at the satellite images - that storm of SW France looks "interesting", they're common enough in Scotland but they don't often get that sort of deep depression down there. I guess there's going to be some damage from the winds.

That's a nasty looking one for sure. ESTOFEX has issued a level 2 alert for that part of Europe. The animated sat24 sat images look great!

I'll   always try to find  out these things  for myself before asking and I found this -it's very good (I think )

My wife is on a womens' forum and one lady from Sweden  posted today that she is sitting at home looking out of the window at a ferocious snow storm with high winds and nd there's a blue tit clinging to a fat ball for it's life !  I think this link must be about it but I'm not sure,seems to be talking about last weekend.

From a safe distance ... just seen the news report on BBC News 24, apparently the winds got to nearly 100mph & there is a lot of damage, nearly a million houses without power; there was some video showing the wind which looked like hurricane footage, though with just ordinary heavy rain not the torrential stuff that comes with a genuine huuricane.

Check out the rainfall radar over SW Britain! - very intense there with a risk of flooding. Met O have a severe weather warning out.

The storm over France has also produced major fires.

That's a very tightly wound low to your WNW. Looks like it is slowly sinking to the south. Good luck!

We're used to them - and it's already past peak development, if it ever does get here it won't be too bad.

Contimuous light slightly sleety rain & moderate breeze here, barometer is falling but only about 2mb/hr. Catch up on sleep I reckon.

I heard from the TV news yesterday about floodings in W Ukraine. It wasn't caused by convective weather. The snow in Carpathian mts. and everywhere was quickly melting, so the water level of the rivers (especially Dnistro) rised in a few meters.
