Title: Heavy Rainfall - July 16th Post by: martinastro on July 16, 2008, 05:45:55 pm Getting some serious rain across N. Ireland now, the front as intensified recently and looks heavier than forecast. Check the Met Office radar for 17.00 and you will see a large area of torrential rain moving across Ulster from the NW. The radar is red and white. I'm about to get slammed by it now!

Click on 17.00 and check out the intense cells arriving over the NW coast. Here's the embedded convection within the front associated with the radar http://www.sat24.nl/frame.php?html=view&country=gb Title: Re: Heavy Rainfall - July 16th Post by: brianb on July 16, 2008, 07:27:39 pm Well it rained here, moderate for 1/2 hour or so, stopped now but still dull. Forecast is rotten for the next few days, I don't care about a bit of rain but it looks as though the cloud is here until Saturday (at least) >:(
Title: Re: Heavy Rainfall - July 16th Post by: martinastro on July 16, 2008, 07:32:13 pm Yes, it doesn't look to good for astronomical observing at all. The only thing getting my attention now is the post frontal air mass on fri/Sat. Might be some convection then or even t-storms in some parts of Ireland and UK. Will wait and see what the experts think. Pity we missed out on that big NLC display last night. |
