Title: Can someone please explain....
Post by: brianb on October 24, 2008, 01:38:44 am
... the sky obviously has some high cloud around, but the patch around the zenith looks almost clear, with a NEZLM of around 5.

It's drizzling. ???

There have been patches of clear sky around but it's rained frequently & not let me stay out long enough to get properly dark adapted yet.

I HATE SHOWERY WEATHER!!!!!

I can see lightning from here. There's regular brillan't blue power flashes on my northern horizon. Probably out over the coast. Do you see any from your location Brian? It must be coming from some of those showers in the unstable post frontal air mass. It's bitterly cold here, calm, stars visible, but now patchy thick high level cirrus cloud is hamering the trans. I may have to postpone my pre dawn comet hunting session.

I'm getting that stange drizzle too.

Turns out that lightning was over the NW coast of Scotland last night. Amazing to be able to see it from Maghera!

Yes, there were quite a few bright lightning flashes, but I didn't actually see where they were coming from - seemed to be all around, probably more in the NW than anywhere else.

My sister reports seeing more lightning flashes tonight from the storms over Scotland again.
