Title: Saturday's unstable skies
Post by: JohnC on June 19, 2011, 10:48:02 pm
We had a lot of unstable air flowing over us yesterday afternoon so I went out at 2.00pm and watched the skies and went home for a meal and went back out at 7.00 pm. and on the way to a local hill  saw a  wonderful rainbow,I stopped the car there and then ,not wishing to lose it (as I have in the past hoping to get to a hill for an even better view - bird in th hand and all that   ;D) and photographed it - the sky was ink back to the east and  south and the sun was was below the cloud base to the west.  The photos  are in sequence as the day went on. The CB at the end produced 3 Cg's that I saw as it headed SE.

Beautiful weather images John and a lovely sequence, the contrast between clouds and fields is excellent and a true hall mark of inspiring John C photography. Love the rainbow and the cb at the end of the line with nice warm evening light, c-gs from that must have been the perfect end of the day  :)

Many thanks, all. The Cg 's were pink - lovely to view but they must have been a way off as I didn't hear any thunder.

Martin- I have never forgotten you saying how important the Earth- sky link is so I will always lay some emphasis on getting that right.

Paul - Yes, that number 8 photo was really my favourite too  and I think what made it were the clouds midway  on the left side with that warm setting sun colour, there's that contrast between them, soft, warm , relaxing even to look at and the menacing white anvil and also the grey clouds had a look of lenticular about them so a variety of cloud types too.

Very beautiful set of photos John, I like too many of them to pick a favorite. The first three almost look like paintings, just gorgeous! The countryside there is something to be admired.
