Title: Macro Bee Post by: JohnC on April 20, 2011, 08:09:31 am I saw this bee on the lawn doing a tour of the dandelion heads but each time I moved round to get it's head in shot it moved-it was on the go all the time so I had to up the ISO to 400 which gave me 1/800 sec. enough to freeze it . It was white on it's rear end-eggs maybe ? It looked different to the white hairs you see in the photo. It was just a spur of the moment shot, a bit quiet on the weather front, just warm (hot even) and clear skies.

Title: Re: Macro Bee Post by: JohnC on April 21, 2011, 10:21:27 pm Many thanks. I tried to get it with the 70-200 but it wouldn't focus so close (8 inches) so I had to get the 180mm dedicated macro on the job. I like it myself lol..so it's a spur to find other beasties. It didn't seem able to fly though and it walked all over the lawn, then onto the drive, so I ushered it back on the lawn ,then it walked onto the neighbour's drive (obviously suicidal ) so I popped it into a tumbler, covered it and took it across the road onto the very wide (18 metres) grass verge so it should be ok there.I don't think it will be around for much longer as it doesn't seem able to fly. |
