I took this sequence of images over a 10 minute period last summer. The cloud formation is unusual, does anyone know how the waves are created? It's not the usual lenticular cloud formation as it was moving fast, with the high level cirrus, not more or less stationary like a train of wave clouds would be. Nice images, my knowledge of clouds is not as good as Martin's but to me they look very much like Kelvin-Helmholtz wave clouds. I think they are quite rare. As to how they are formed, I think it's something to do with winds moving in different directions. No doubt other's will comment.
