We had heavy showers coming through today so I got myself out there.

Those are very dramatic and beautiful images with the cloud/mowed fields contrast. I really like # 3. Looks like you could have gotten some intense showers out of those.

Thanks,Richard. I really like these  type of clouds - I looked in my cloud book and they're nimbostratus with scud. We didn't get much atall in the way of showers,you'd think so wouldn't you. The US corn fields make a great contrast with the supercells and  that's really where I first got a idea of how they can enhance a photo and that's why I like them so much-the green maize too is  a good contrast. As I was standing just inside the field a startled fox was coming out of the hedge behind me but saw me and rapidly went back in.

John, these are fabulous images, love the menacing dark clouds contrasting with the bright fields, - just like a scene from the US!. I reckon you have more than Nimbostratus there, images 2 and 3 show convection, perhaps stratocumulus with some weak towers embedded.

Thanks guys. I'll defer to your knowledge ,Martin. Looking more closely I can see what you mean, there is some convection. Some Cb maybe
