Storm Forecast Issued: 2010-07-18 20:29:00
Valid: 2010-07-19 00:00:00 - 2010-07-19 23:59:00

Regions Affected
(Wales, SW, NW & NE England, S & E Scotland and E Northern Ireland are included in the WATCH)

Synopsis

An area of Low pressure to the west of the United Kingdom over the North Atlantic, and High pressure "Beowulf" (FU Berlin) located over Poland will provide a southwesterly flow across the country on Monday.

At the triple point, and along the cold front, there exists a chance of embedded convection to occur during the afternoon and evening hours, the risk continuing into the night period.

Although the risk is quite low, hence only a WATCH threat level has been issued, there is a risk of isolated thunder/lightning and/or a funnel or weak tornado to develop along the cold front also, particularly across Ireland where conditions will be most favourable. However, a large limiting factor will be cloud heights.
