It doesn't look like they've spruced the place up any since I was last there in 1982. Another great panorama Paul! What lens did you use for this and the Twin Peaks shot? Just curious.

Thanks Richard! Lens for the Alcatraz shot would have been my 16-105 zoom on the A700 body. The Twin Peaks pano was different - the Leica 4x zoom on my Lumix FS7 compact did that - an amazing little optic for a 10MP camera that cost £130! Incidentally, following your advice here I stitched these both with Microsoft ICE (free) instead of my usual Serif Panorama Plus 2 (£10). They're both pretty similar though I think I prefer the Microsoft item, not least for the Autocrop function and giving a bit more information.

Thanks for the tip!

Paul.

You're very welcome Paul, again, those are amazing images in a very lovely city.

Looks like you're getting around, Paul. I watched  a CE film on Tuesday-'A few Dollars more' with Lee Van Cleef.

I don't think I can use the Microsoft ICE on a Mac.

Hi Lads

Great image Paul That is one city I'd love to see. My wife is heading over to San Francisco in February for a work conference I'm thinking of heading over with her to see the sites she be working and I'll be doing the tours :>)).

Here is one of my favorite Clint films the man is a legend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KwbcEUrxKM&feature=related

Very good Paul, I can really imagine what life must have been like for the prisoners there in the past, I keep thinking of Nicholas Cage and Sean Connery in the 'The Rock' when I saw this image.

Which Dirty Harry movie had Alcatraz in it?...I can't recall.

The one with Tyne Daly as his partner! Er, The Enforcer?
