Title: Altocumulus Mammatus
Post by: martinastro on July 11, 2008, 07:42:40 pm
Took these images about two weeks ago and have only got around to getting them up now. There was a convective forecast out on this day for isolated thunderstorms, however none appeared. Before sunset I noticed that the sky was a little unstable looking. I noticed a beautiful display of altocumulus with obvious sinking air. This sinking air formed mammatus-like pouches under each individual cumulus puff before the whole thing sank and was lit orange-gold by the setting Sun.
