Title: Lightning & Rainbow on Time Lapse?
Post by: Steveo74 on August 15, 2008, 10:07:59 am
Set the webcam up on Monday for a bit of time lapse and left it, fell asleep for a few hours and was awaken by the noise of thunder! only getting round to check it out.  Near the end you can see that it is heavily clouded and quick flashes of light. I think that was the lightning, also at the end you can just make out a rainbow which formed after the down pour...

Captured ever 10secs  ;D

That's so cool Steven!!. I can see the flashes and the big dark cells with rain cores sweeping across. Nicely done!!. I like the way the cows can be seen to move back and forth. Keep an eye out over the next couple of days.  :)

I can't see the movie from here but will look forward to seeing it later.

Webcams have traditionally been limited to 640*480 resolution, however there is a new generation of 1.3 and 2 megapixel cameras comng out at very affordable prices - not sure yet whether they have the low-light ability for astro applications but for high-quality weather monitoring they look to be just the job!
