Title: An Unsettled Week Ahead For UK & Ireland Post by: martinastro on October 16, 2009, 04:17:47 pm At last, some unsettled weather is due to affect both the UK and Ireland all through next week. First of all here's the forecast for the period by Michael Fish on Netweather.tv. I see that Michael has now been doing the GMTV forecasts this week which is great to see, today was the anniversary of the major storm which hit the UK in the 80's and he addressed it on TV this morning.
http://www.netweather.tv/index.cgi?action=michaelfish;sess= Low pressure will be swinging in several quite deep depressions from the Atlantic with quite organized frontal systems producing gusty winds and very heavy rain in places. GFS is showing some weak instability with these systems later in the week, especially over the Republic of Ireland where the Jet Stream will be located, there could just be a chance of a tornado there if any convection can get going. By the weekend GFS is snowing wide spread instability in the post frontal airmass with a risk of heavy showers and perhaps the odd thunderstorm. The Atlantic Ocean usually begins to wake up from Nov onwards so looking forward to some deep LPs moving in. :). What a contrast to Fri night though - it was freezing here with an air and grass frost and intense fog all morning with visiblity down to a few tens of metres. |
