Title: White Rock Beach Sunset
Post by: martinastro on July 28, 2008, 05:00:58 pm
During the late evening on July 27th I visited White Rock Beach in Portrush at the northern coast. It was a gorgeous evening with a mild gentle breeze and calm sea. The lowering Sun could be seen reflecting on the water accompanied by several weak sundogs, pillar, and partial 22 degree halo. Eventually the crimson disk of the Sun set over the perfect Ocean horizon. I watched for a green flash but none could be seen. This was the first time in the northern coast when it actually felt, and looked like, a foreign resort!.

Those are all excellent Martin! I like the one with your dog - it would be better being rotated clockwise 1 degree to bring the horizon dead straight.

Maybe but the sea up here really does slope - my horizons are always crooked as well (unless I use a tripod and a gridded screen to compose the shot)

Thanks guys. The Sea horizon is all over the place there as Brian said but at the same time I was a little out with the levels. Camera was held low to the sand so I couldn't tell if it was level or not as I couldn't see through the LCD screen due to its low height. That sure was a beautiful evening. ..and so is this evening to!

Excellent shots, Martin, all of them are excellent! :)
In the #1 image it looks like a mirror was instead of the sand. Two Suns, two mirrored skies (or oceans), hills to the left and waves to the right, and those people far away - it looks for me like an artist's composition (well, I have seen something like this in the art galleries)
